PACE CLASS
Thursday 12:30PM
Starting May 5th running for 10 weeks
    People with Arthritis Can Exercise is a program designed specifically for people with arthritis that uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion and to help maintain muscle strength.  It also helps increase overall stamina.  Today doctors and therapists know that moderate physical activity can improve your health without hurting your joints.  With this in mind, the Arthritis Foundation introduced PACE.  Please consult with your doctor before starting this or any exercise program.
   Call to register for this series of classes.  $16.00  for 10 classes.

    Secondhand smoke is the combination of smoke from the end of a cigarette and the smoke exhaled by the person smoking.  The Environmental Protection Agency classifies secondhand smoke as a Group A carcinogen, which means it causes cancer in humans.
    Secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of preventable death in the United States, killing 53,000 people per year.  Health risks of secondhand smoke include lung cancer, heart disease, colds and coughs, and reduced lung function.  Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of secondhand smoke.  They may suffer from ear infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and asthma.  Recent studies also reveal more learning problems in children exposed to secondhand smoke than children living in smoke-free homes. Senior Citizens Day Celebration
Held at the Moose Lodge
208 Third St. Marietta , OH
    Additional parking available at the Marietta College Fine Arts Lot located at 4th & Butler Street . Our O’Neill van will be there to shuttle you to the Third St. door of the Moose building.
    Doors open at 10am,   Welcome and introductions begin at 11am Lunch is served at 11:30 “Just Lunch” catering Sissy Amrine Henry box lunch menu : Chicken salad on croissant / Pasta salad / Chip / Homemade cookie / Tea/coffee

Selders- Has been in the people business for over 30 years, serving as a motivator, counselor, teacher, magician, humorist and friend.  A native of a small Ohio town, part of his audience appeal is what the port called the “Common touch”. His training in Psychology and Counseling was acquired at Youngstown State University , Youngstown , OH. J.R.’s message for us today is entitled “The Magic of Successful Aging”

Poetry Power
12:30pm
    Poetry Power student performers under the direction of Elizabeth Houck and Emily Hays Newman will present their poetry selections for us.  This humors poetry helps these “at risk” students from Washington Co. School districts learn social conduct and develop self confidence. These students will delight us with their very unique variety of poetry. Call to show interest.

Derma Scan-Kathy Dodrill, OSU

Kathy Dodrill from OSU Extension Office will be at the Center from 8-10am. She will be offering a Dermascan test for skin cancer. This is a very good opportunity to have some preventive testing done. Skin cancer can strike anyone.
